Reverend Darlene Howard Edwards was born on a farm in Clinton North, Carolina to a share cropper, James Samuel and Georgianna Hargrove Howard. She is one of nine children. As a child Darlene had plenty of opportunity to work in the soil, planting and harvesting and looking after live-stock , and sometimes even feeding the chickens and gathering eggs. As a child it was difficult for her to appreciate that experience with the dirt vegetation and live stock, the gathering fruits we did not plant; apples, berries, peaches, figs, and grapes of many kind. Since her second birth, after being baptized in the Holy Ghost she has so much appreciation for her childhood experience on the farm by the woods, by nature, by streams and yes by difficulties. She has come to appreciate the scripture found in Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived God is not mocked for what so ever a man soweth that shall he also reap.
She realizes she could not plant tomatoes and expect to gather plums, which brings to life another scripture Galatians 6:8 for he that soweth to his flesh shall of his flesh reap corruption but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. What Reverend Edwards would like you to know is that she is a child of God! There is one thing she is thankful to her parents for, which is priceless, they made sure she heard about Jesus. Now she and Jesus are friend. Oh!! what a friend we have in Jesus.
